Where are we now?
By David Kennedy
If Scotland’s biggest international transport company, Stagecoach, owners of Polski Bus, could be persuaded to open its bus doors to local residents rather than steam through ul. Bonifacego empty from 5 am every morning from its base on ul.Limanowskiego towards the present first stop at al.Wilanowska we could travel to Berlin direct.
If there was a direct transport link, the retrospective glam rock idol could have hopped on an overnighter after researching the song and had a breakfast of fresh raspberries and jagodzianka as well as pick up some reasonably priced men’s socks at the bazarek near Sad B Mall.
How do you like the second verse for the Thin White Duke, fellow Sadybers?
Had to get the train
From Potsdamer Platz
You never knew that
That I could do that
Just walking the dead
Had to get the bus,
From Sadyba Best Mall to KDW
I never knew that
That you could do that
Just waking the dead (at 5am with your big red buses)”
What we Sadybers think, though, doesn’t seem to make much difference to our noisy neighbours who have 10 buses a day going back and forth at the border of our garden city. First as Mr Nimby (not in my back yard) and then as your budding local columnist, I asked for some answers to the following questions:
1Why do you drive down residential Ul. Bonifacego, when there is an “A” road route to the station via Wiertnicza St and Wilanowska Avenue. It would not cause any inconvenience to passengers, as the buses are empty.
2.If the route is chosen for fuel savings, then surely Sadyba should be compensated for the inconvenience by having a bus stop here, say by the shopping centre.
3. If you don’t want to stop in Sadyba, then please admit what the time/fuel saving means to the company and maybe Mokotów can cut the amount out of your local taxes- I presume you pay some local taxes and aren’t like Amazon or Starbucks….?
